Now, I scratch enough ISK for a new ship and about 100k ISK left over to try my hand at working a couple of very profitable trade routes I discovered. Only 4 jumps between the waypoints, but one was going to take me through 0.4 space so I knew this may be a risky proposition. Nonetheless, the chance to double my ISK for maybe 20 mins worth of work was too good to pass up.
Jump gate number 3 - Yup. Sure enough, Calente Battleships waiting at the gate got me. Now when I say they "got me" I mean they WTFPNED me. Like all 8 of them opened up with gravitron bombs...lmao. I'm in a SLASHER for pete's sake.
So...a Slasher, a pod kill, and 50k ISK worth of minerals later, I'm wondering what did they get out of it and why so mercilessly? Don't get me wrong...I understand PvP as I've played on nothing but PvP servers for years now in other games. But even as a level 60+ toon on EQ or WoW, I never had the urge to completely WTFPWN a noob because I could. Ya, I've winged 'em. I intimidate them. I tell them to beat feet or get cut to ribbons. I've KSed from them if they're trying to XP in my homeland. I can make their life a living nightmare to think about coming to a party unpreparred. THEN if they don't listen or get the hint, I'll make them do a loooooong corpse run.
Perhaps I don't understand the factions well enough yet. I'm trying to read up on the races/factions/and corporations of EVE. But any light someone could shed on this would be appreciated.
Did I deserve utter anniahlation just for being there or were they just being bullies? Thank you all for making me fell welcome thus far.
quite simply, you jumped into their gatecamp. now, they dont care if your a noob, a vet, or a gm. most likey, they didnt even have the chance to check (0.4 means no warp bubbles, so you have to get right on with the fighting before they decide to leave) but quite simply, anything that jumps thou in a gatecamp is is not blue, shoot it. most alliances/low sec pvp corps will operate on a NBSI (not blue shoot it- if you have a blue tag means your allied :) ). they wont make any money on you, but your still a enemy to them and you must die.
one hint, try checking the map for "most ship kills in last hour" and "most pilots in system" along your route when you go into low sec, can help.
oh, and its very funny checking jita for "most ships destroyed in last 24 hours" as well :D --------------------------
